Another Couple Defies Advice to Terminate Pregnancy

It seems like every month, we read another story with triumphant, yet still tragic theme.  Universal health care doctors in Britain advise a young couple that their baby will have severe disabilities, if he survives at all, and they should just terminate the pregnancy.  The couple defies the doctors’ recommendations, and then find the doctor had botched the diagnosis when they give birth to a healthy baby.  Well, here’s another one

Little Brandon Kramer was diagnosed with rhomboencephalosynapsis – a condition so rare it affects fewer than one in a million people worldwide – while he was still in the womb.

Doctors warned his mother and father that Brandon would be born deaf and blind and would probably survive only for a couple of hours.

It is believed to be the first time in Britain that the condition has been diagnosed during pregnancy – and Becky Weatherall and her partner Kriss Kramer were offered a termination up to just weeks before the birth.

But the couple defied doctors’ advice and their son was born healthy on October 1 last year.

The tragedy is that it begs the question: How many normal babies are aborted in Britain due to a botched diagnosis from universal health care doctors?  We only hear about the occasional brave couple that defies the recommendation to abort.

It also begs the question: Why would we want universal health care in this country?
