CNN informs us that black women face “a unique, and most unexpected dilemma… Should they vote their race, or should they vote their gender?”
Call me old fashioned but maybe they should investigate the candidates and vote for one based on issues and experience rather than immutable traits… But that might lead them to a Republican, so CNN can’t encourage that now, can they?

CNN and the other media talking heads once again don’t know what they’re talking about. And they don’t realize it, but they are insulting millions of black women.
Why would one assume that black women would vote differently than – let’s say anyone else. Do white women automatically vote for the white candidate or for the female candidate? According to the Iowa Caucus results, apparrently not. Maybe, just maybe … black women are just like any other voters. No. Could it be???
If you are a white person and are not automatically going to vote for a white person just because he or she is white, you should know that black voters are no different. People in the media are assuming that while white voters are sophisticated enough to evaluate candidates and pick the best candidates according to their positions, that black voters and black women in particular will just look at a picture of Hillary or Obama and say to themselves “He’s got my skin color. He’s got my vote!” or “She gets her period. Okay. I’m supporting her!” How insulting.
By the way, they should realize that not all black people vote Democratic.
The reason, by the way, that most blacks vote Democratic is NOT because of some widespread liberalism among black people. Not at all. As an ethnic group, blacks are probably the most socially conservative group in America – not that you’d know that from Congressional Representation (many blacks tend to live near large urban areas and most people who represent large urban areas are liberals). But many blacks feel that the Republican Party has made few attempts to reach out to black voters for the past four decades. And this is another proof that black voters are just like anyone else. People won’t often vote for you unless you actually ask for their vote. My GOP establishment friends, in case it’s been a long time since you’ve opened your Bibles, let me share one thought with you. “You have not because you ask not.”
Case in point: there was a black issues forum for GOP candidates. Only one of the current front runners showed up: Mike Huckabee. Yesterday was King’s birthday and only one GOP candidate showed up at King’s church: Mike Huckabee. And he’s the guy who the Republican Establishment hates with a passion. The message that many black voters have gotten from the GOP for a long time now is that we’re not worth the effort.
CNN has been blasted unmercifully for this, as they should be. The best comment was by a white guy who said, assuming John Edwards drops out, it look like he’ll be faced with the tough choice between his race and his gender. Pretty well summed up the innanity of the whole article.
As for TVV’s comments: considering the reception given to those from the GOP who do show up, the 90% Democrat voting record, and the contempt that is showered on black members of the GOP like Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell and Condi Rice, is the reluctance to show up just to get abused surprising?
Ironically, Obama stands a chance of breaking the stranglehold that professional race baiters like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and that is a great benefit to the open exchange of ideas. Of course, that is completely against the desires of the Democrat political machinery, who likes a voting bloc they can count on and completely ignore afterward. That is why the machine will do everything it can to grind Obama into the dust. Maybe the experience will open a few eyes and some people will realize that the hand that insists on feeding you is not as worthwhile as the hand willing to teach you to feed yourself.
Of course, I’m just one of those right-winged, rednecked white guys… who happens to have an Asian wife and a full Ugandan ‘family’; what would I know about race relations?
Yes, the Democrats like to own the black vote so that they can completely count on black voters during the election cycle and then ignore us in the four years until the next election. Almost exactly like Republicans and Evangelicals.
TVV; yep, you’ve got it figured out. Problem is, neither group have many options since- on their own- their group-specific positions generally would not get a majority vote from the genral population.

Mike O…Thanx for saying this….You can say that Sharpton and Jackson are race baiters and not be prejudiced…Because guess what? It’s true….They only appear when it’s “face time” for the press….My first choice would be Ron Paul…2nd Barack Obama….

What can I say? Seeing the potential in both….I am attracted to Ron Pauls platform of getting back to the Constitution and abolishing the I R S…Obama symbolizes change in this country….
