Perhaps trying to avoid a new law that takes effect at the end of this year which requires U.S. senators wait two years rather than one before taking a position as a lobbyist after the end of their Senate careers, Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) resigned yesterday.
I would expect to see the 35-year veteran on the K Street roll, complete with a seven digit salary, in exactly 366 days (2008 is a leap year). Sad…
